An opposition needs the two planets on opposite sides of the sky, and Mercury and Venus never get there. They orbit inside Earth's path and stay close to the Sun. The split people hunt for is usually Venus opposite Saturn, Mercury opposite Neptune, or Mercury and Venus in adjacent signs with nothing in common, like Capricorn Mercury and Aquarius Venus. That is two signs, not an aspect.
