## What it looks like in a life

Most people meet this one in a great-grandparent's chart before their own. Wherever it sits, it makes the material world the place where spirit gets looked for, and the house says which part of that world carries it. Neptune was discovered in 1846, so the old traditions had nothing to say about it. The depth here is modern and Bailey's: a sacred planet on the sixth ray of devotion, read as the higher octave of Venus. Taurus is desire, and desire is the raw material of will: Vulcan the smith forges it into purpose, and the sign's keynote is "I see, and when the Eye is opened, all is light." Neptune softens the desire before it reaches the forge. The work is to let the longing point at something instead of dissolving into what it bought.
