title: Uranus sextile Pluto
type: aspect
planet: uranus
partner: pluto
aspect: sextile
answer: >
Uranus sextile Pluto formed for people born roughly 1942 to 1946 and again roughly 1994 to 1998, so it is shared with everyone born inside those windows. It is a working relationship between the urge to break a pattern and the power to take it all the way down, and it only operates when you deliberately use it.

## The hook

You have more force available than you generally use. It waits for you to pick something and mean it.

## What it looks like in a life

Uranus and Pluto were sixty degrees apart from about 1942 to 1946, and again from about 1994 to 1998 with Uranus in late Capricorn and early Aquarius and Pluto in Sagittarius. If you were born in either stretch, you share this with everyone born then. It turns personal when your Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Ascendant, or Midheaven contacts one end of it. When that happens you notice you can change things other people cannot. You rebuild after losses that flatten your friends. You take on the job nobody wants and get further into it than anyone expected. None of it happens on its own. Left alone, this aspect is quiet for decades.

## The gift

The two forces cooperate. Uranus hands you the new option and Pluto hands you the endurance to survive choosing it. That combination lets you make a real break without falling apart afterward, which is the part most people cannot do. You can end something, sit in the gap, and build the replacement, and the gap does not frighten you the way it should.

## The friction

A sextile opens a door and then waits. Nothing forces you through it, so the most common outcome is a life where the power sat unused and showed up only as occasional restlessness. The other failure is smaller and sharper: you spend the force on something trivial, win it easily, and never test what it was actually for.

## The esoteric layer

Neither planet was known to the older traditions, so nothing here comes from them. The esoteric framing is Bailey and modern. The sextile is the number six, two times three, harmony that has to be worked. Esoteric astrology treats it as skill built in this life rather than inherited, a door that opens only if pushed. Bailey reads Uranus as the sacred seventh ray of ordered change and Pluto as the non-sacred first ray in its destroyer function, the force that removes what the soul has finished with. Offered as a sextile, that removal is available to you and never imposed on you.

## Where this goes

The houses the sextile connects say what you would have to take on for it to activate. A full natal reading names that and shows what else in your chart is likely to push the button.
