## The friction

The square is a quarter of the circle, the number four, what the tradition calls the cross of matter. Bailey's esoteric astrology puts it directly: the crosses indicate process and points of crisis, so a hard angle marks where development happens rather than where you were damaged. Saturn there is the Lord of Karma, handing over opportunity dressed as difficulty, and the Hermetic texts name his vice as the deceit that lies in ambush. Something in you waits with a price tag.
