You do not do things halfway. You have known that about yourself since you were young, and so has everyone who has ever crossed you.
What it looks like in a life
Pluto spends between twelve and twenty years in a sign, so the sign belongs to a whole generation. The conjunction to your Mars is what makes it personal. You commit hard or not at all. You work past the point where other people stop, and you do not experience that as discipline. It is simply what wanting something feels like. Anger goes deep instead of loud, and it keeps. You register power in a room immediately: who has it, who is pretending, who is about to use it. You have survived something that would have ended someone else, and you rebuilt without much help.
The gift
Your endurance is not ordinary. You can carry a project, a grief, or a person through a stretch that would flatten most people and come out still functioning. You are not afraid of the dark end of a situation, so you can act while others are flinching. When you commit, it is total, and people can feel that. It is why they follow you into things.
The friction
Fused, Mars and Pluto cannot tell wanting from needing to win. A disagreement turns into a question of who is in control, and you will push well past the point where the win is worth anything. Under threat you go strategic and cold. You hold resentment for years, quietly, and you call it memory rather than a grudge. What you cannot control, you tend to leave rather than tolerate.
The esoteric layer
Hellenistic astrology called Mars the lesser malefic and had no Pluto at all. Pluto was not found until 1930, so nothing in the ancient literature refers to it. Bailey's esoteric astrology gives Mars the battlefield of the desire nature, kama being turned into spiritual will, and gives Pluto the destroyer aspect of the first ray, the force that ends what the soul is finished with. Fused, they make a will that does not negotiate. The instruction in that lineage is aim. This much force will destroy something, and you get to choose what.
Where this goes
The house holding this conjunction says where the intensity is aimed and where the control battles keep happening. The rest of the chart says what can hold that much force. A full natal reading starts there.
