You want to know why, and then why that, and you will keep going past the point where people get tired.
What it looks like in a life
You read whole books on subjects nobody asked you about. You have changed your beliefs at least once in a way that cost you something. You argue about God, politics, and meaning at hours when other people want to sleep. You went somewhere far, or you have been saving for it since you were nineteen. You teach whatever you learn, usually before you have fully learned it. You are drawn to teachers and then to finding out where their system breaks. Law, religion, publishing, academia, or long-form content: you end up near one of them. And you talk in principles, which makes you sound certain even when you are still working it out.
The gift
You can take a pile of specifics and say what it means, which is the move most people never make. You explain systems to people who were told they were too slow to get them. Your mind travels, so you can think inside a worldview that is not yours. And you keep asking after the point where the answer got comfortable.
The friction
You round the details up to fit the principle, and the details you skipped come back with interest. You preach when you meant to explain. You collect the theory and skip the practice, so you can describe a discipline you have never actually kept. And certainty feels like truth to you, which is exactly why you should check it.
The esoteric layer
In the Hellenistic system the ninth place was called God, and it was the joy of the Sun: the house of oracles, foreign travel, and the divine. Putting Mercury there puts the scribe inside the temple. In the old astrotheology Mercury is Thoth, who gave Egypt writing, and the Greeks fused him with Hermes into Hermes Trismegistus, the figure the whole Hermetic tradition is named after. That is the job description of this placement. The revelation arrives, and someone has to write it down in a language people can use.
