The fights in your life have a weight that other people's fights do not. You have wondered whether that is you or them. It is both.
What it looks like in a life
Pluto holds a sign for twelve to twenty years, so the sign is generational. The opposition to your Mars is what makes it personal. You attract forceful people: the controlling boss, the partner who has to win, the friend whose intensity runs your whole week. Conflicts with them go deeper than the subject warrants. You either fight back hard or you go quiet and strategic and wait. You have left situations by burning them down instead of negotiating. There was probably an early relationship where the power was not shared, and you have been rebalancing that scale ever since, with people who had nothing to do with it.
The gift
Oppositions make things visible, and this one shows you power from the outside. You can read the power structure of a room in about a minute. You have been overpowered and you have also overpowered someone, so you know the whole circuit, and the people who know the whole circuit are the ones you want holding authority. You survive things. You do not flinch when a conversation gets real.
The friction
You put one end of this in the other person every time. Either you are the reasonable one across from someone impossible, or you are the force somebody else is bracing against, and you rarely know which role you are in. The struggle can feel like closeness. Intensity is not intimacy, and this aspect will spend years confusing the two.
The esoteric layer
The opposition is half the circle, the number two, and Hellenistic astrology read it as the sharpest confrontation on the wheel. It called Mars the lesser malefic. It had nothing to say about Pluto, which was not discovered until 1930. Bailey's esoteric astrology reads the opposition as full-Moon logic: two ends held in tension until a third point reconciles them. Pluto in the modern esoteric lineage is the destroyer aspect of the first ray. The reconciliation here is not winning. It is holding your own force and leaving the other person theirs.
Where this goes
The houses at each end say where the power struggles happen and who you keep casting on the other side. That is the exact material a therapeutic astrology session works with.
