The last Uranus square Neptune ran from about 1952 to 1957, exact in the middle of that stretch, with Uranus in Cancer and Neptune in Libra. Everyone born then has it. The next one does not arrive until the late 2030s. Alone it marks a generation, not a person, and it turns individual when your Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Ascendant, or Midheaven sits on one end of it. Then the friction lands somewhere specific. You make abrupt breaks on the strength of a feeling and cannot defend them afterward. You reject a structure, replace it with a mood, then rebuild a structure out of the mood. You have walked out of jobs, marriages, or faiths with total clarity and no words for why.
The gift
A square builds muscle, and this one builds a very particular kind. You will not accept an answer that is merely tidy, and you will not accept a feeling that cannot survive daylight. Each force keeps testing the other. Over time that makes you a good detector of false certainty, in institutions and in yourself. People who had this easy never developed the ear.
The friction
The loop is fast. Something dissolves, you panic, you make a sudden break to feel solid, the break dissolves too. You mistake restlessness for guidance and guidance for restlessness. Idealism runs ahead of the facts and then collapses, and the collapse gets blamed on the world rather than on the size of the ideal.
The esoteric layer
The old astrologers knew neither planet, so nothing in this reading comes from that tradition. The esoteric framing is Bailey and modern. Bailey's line is direct: the triangles indicate possibility, the crosses indicate process and points of crisis. A square is the number four, the cross of matter, where something actually gets built. Uranus in that system is the seventh ray, lawful sudden change, and Neptune the sixth ray, devotion that dissolves the separate self. The square between them means neither one is allowed to win, which is the point.
