Sun opposite Jupiter

Sun opposite Jupiter means your own scale and somebody else's keep balancing against each other: you either meet people who are larger than life or you become the one carrying the excess for everyone. Proportion gets learned here through other people.

You keep ending up across the table from someone bigger, louder, or more certain than you. The two of you are carrying one job between you.

What it looks like in a life

There is always an outsized character in your story. The mentor, the partner, the friend with the enormous plans. You alternate between believing in them completely and feeling flattened by them. In your own life you swing: a year of restraint, then a decision made twice as large as it needed to be. You are generous to a fault inside relationships and then keep private score. You have been told you are too much and also too careful, sometimes by the same person. Big promises, yours or somebody else's, have set the direction of your life more than once.

The gift

You can see the size of a thing from outside yourself, which is exactly what a conjunction cannot do. That makes you an unusually good adviser on other people's overreach. Your generosity includes their judgment and not only your own enthusiasm. When the balance finally lands, you build things larger than you would have built alone.

The friction

You outsource the belief. Somebody else gets to be the visionary and you get to be the sensible one, and then you resent the role you took. Flip it and you end up carrying the whole weight of everyone's expectations. The seesaw costs you accuracy. You are rarely calibrated to your real size, only to the gap between you and whoever is standing there.

The esoteric layer

The opposition is harmonic two, read esoterically as full Moon logic: illumination through the Other. The two ends stay in tension until a third, reconciling point is found, which is why the tradition treats this aspect as relationship used as spiritual practice. Jupiter is the greater benefic in the Hellenistic system and, further back, Marduk, the king who orders chaos. Bailey's esoteric astrology calls it the fuser of heart and head. Sitting across from the Sun, that fusion has to be negotiated with a real person before it becomes yours.

Where this goes

The houses at each end say where the seesaw runs, usually one private and one shared. A full natal reading traces the axis and names which side you have been living from.
