You are very good at holding on. The assignment is learning what to release, and when.
What it looks like in a life
The nodes move backwards through the zodiac and spend about eighteen months in one sign, so this node is shared with an eighteen-month cohort. The house and the aspects are what make it yours. In practice you stay. You stay in jobs, houses, and relationships long past the point where anything is growing, because leaving would disturb the ground under you. You keep possessions, grudges, and routines. You would rather absorb discomfort for years than have one conversation that changes the arrangement. Money is a comfort object. Anything that asks you to be exposed gets postponed until circumstance makes the choice for you.
The gift
You are steady in a way that almost nobody is. You do not panic, you do not flee, and you can build something slowly enough that it actually holds. People rest near you. That patience is exactly what makes the Scorpio work survivable: most people cannot go into the deep material because they have no floor. You do.
The friction
Comfort is how you avoid transformation. You call stubbornness loyalty and inertia stability. You refuse to look at the thing under the surface, so it surfaces anyway, usually as a crisis you did not choose. The loop repeats: you hold until it is taken, then rebuild the same arrangement and call it starting over.
The esoteric layer
Hellenistic astrologers treated the nodes as the eclipse points, where the Moon's path crosses the Sun's, and read them lightly: the ascending node mildly increased what it touched, the descending node diminished it. The Head and Tail of the Dragon are the later medieval names, and Rahu and Ketu the Indian ones. The past-habit and future-growth reading of the axis is modern, and it belongs in the modern column. What it draws on is older Scorpio doctrine: the scorpion, the serpent that sheds, and the bird that comes out of the fire.
Where this goes
The house of this node says what area of your life is asking to be surrendered, and Mars and Pluto say how you handle being changed. A natal reading takes that apart carefully.
