You either say nothing or you say the thing that cannot be taken back. There is not much in between.
What it looks like in a life
Pluto crosses a sign in twelve to twenty years, which makes the sign generational. The square to Mercury is what makes it personal. You go over conversations at three in the morning looking for what was really meant. You assume information is being withheld, and often enough you are right, which keeps the habit alive. You do not ask for reassurance, you test for it. Cornered, you go quiet and precise and say the one sentence that ends things. There was usually an early situation where speaking honestly was dangerous, or where you knew something you were not allowed to say.
The gift
You cannot be lied to for long. You read the gap between what someone says and what they do, and you take it seriously instead of explaining it away. That makes you hard to manipulate and very good in situations where the truth is being hidden. When you do speak, none of it is filler, and everyone in the room knows it.
The friction
The loop: you sense something is off, you do not ask, you build a case in private, you wait, and then it comes out with far more force than the situation needed. Nothing gets checked along the way. Words become the weapon closest to hand, and you know exactly where the soft spot is. Afterward you are certain you were right, which is not the same as being helped.
The esoteric layer
The square is a quarter of the circle, the number four, the cross of matter. Bailey's esoteric astrology reads the crosses as process and points of crisis, which puts this in the engine rather than in the wound. Pluto was not discovered until 1930, so nothing in the ancient tradition names this pair. Mercury it did name: the messenger, and the psychopomp who walks between the living world and the one below. That is the job here. The pressure gets carried up and put into words while it is still a sentence and not yet an explosion.
