You work twice as hard and take half the credit. Praise slides off. Criticism sticks for a decade. There was an early message, spoken or not, that who you naturally were needed correcting, and you took it as accurate. You delay the career move, the relationship, the ask. The gift
You earn everything, which means nothing you hold can be taken back by a change in conditions. You know how to keep going when no reward is visible, and that is the rarest skill in any field. Your standards are real. When you finally call something finished, it is finished. You are patient with other people's slowness because you have lived inside your own.
The friction
Self-worth is the wound and achievement is the wrong medicine. Each accomplishment buys a short quiet, then the bar moves. You call your fear realism. You shrink the ask before anyone can refuse it, so the refusal comes from you and you never find out what they would have said. The loop holds until you question the original rule instead of trying to satisfy it.
The esoteric layer
