Mars in Taurus

Mars in Taurus means you act slowly and then you do not stop. Mars is in detriment here, which is not weakness: it means your drive has to move through the body and the material world, so starting is hard, momentum is enormous, and anger builds underground for a long time before anyone sees it.

Getting you to begin can take months. Getting you to quit takes something close to an act of God.

What it looks like in a life

You think about the decision for weeks, and everyone assumes you are not interested. Then you start, and a year later you are still going while the people who lapped you in week one have moved on to something else. You want what you can touch: money in the account, a body that works, a place that is yours. You do not chase. You wait, and you outlast. When someone crosses you, you say nothing for a long time and forget none of it, and then one day the whole thing comes out at once and everybody is shocked except you. You work with your hands when you are upset.

The gift

Endurance. You finish what quicker people abandon at the first boring stretch, and boring stretches are where most things are actually won. Your effort is physical and steady and it compounds. You also want plainly, without apology, which makes you difficult to manipulate. Nobody talks you into a desire you do not already have.

The friction

You call it patience, and some of it is. The rest is refusal. You will stay in the job, the argument, or the position long past the point where staying is a choice, because moving means giving up ground you already paid for. Anger you sit on does not dissolve, it pressurizes. By the time it surfaces it is not a sentence anymore, it is a wall.

The esoteric layer

In the Hellenistic system Mars is in detriment in Taurus, opposite its own sign of Scorpio. The tradition read that as a planet working against its own nature: heat buried in form, fire held inside earth. Taurus is fixed earth ruled by Venus, the constellation Babylon called the Bull of Heaven. Bailey's esoteric astrology puts Vulcan the smith behind Venus as the soul ruler, and that is the useful image here. Vulcan does not put the fire out. He uses it to forge metal.

Where this goes

The house this Mars sits in says what you are so patiently building, and Venus says whether it is worth the years. A full natal reading separates what you are committed to from what you are only refusing to leave.
